New Layouts and the SF "Get YOur Game On" Hop winner

First off, I wanted to share a couple layouts I have been doing over at Cookin' Up Creations for the "Next Crop Chef" contest. The first one I did for my 1st week's entry, this was also my entry for our Get Your Game on Touchdown LO (killed two birds with one stone!):

I have also been working on some mini cards to go inside gifts that I will hopefully get packaged up and ready to sell soon. There are the two sets I have finished already and they come 6 to a set:

These sets are so fun to make, and they go together so quickly.

And finally, my layout with my ingredient for you to use for your touchdown project. I have to say, As much as I love high school and college football, I am not a huge die hard fan of pro football. My favorite part of pro-ball is the cheerleader. I love the watch their athletic ability. And I am really partial to my very own cheerleader that you will see inspired my LO :

We all know how important the lacing on the football is. The quarterback like to have it lined up just right when he throws the ball, as does the kicker, want it to be lined up perfectly as well. So with that in mind, my ingredient is TWINE.
Now, I'm not picky as to what kind of twine you use. It can be bakers twine, or the natural twine. Shoot, you can even use homemade twine if that's all you've got. All I ask is that you point it out to us when you post your LO at SF if it isn't obvious. On my LO I used both bakers twine and natural twine. My bakers twine is stapled across the top where the black and aqua paper meet. My natural twine is covering my buttons in the center of my handmade flowers. You also don't have to use as much as I did, just a little will do. The best part, is you have until Sunday February 12th to get your project finished and upload in the appropriate thread at SF!

Now on to the fun stuff...I am offering up a small prize of my own. For everyone who does use my ingredient on their touchdown project and is a follower of my blog, I will put your name into a random drawing for that small prize. So make sure if you aren't already a follower, that you do that before the deadline to post your touchdown. The winner will be announced on or before the 15th of February. That will give me time to go through the projects and confirm who all used twine. Make sure you check back here to see if you are the winner! However, whether you use twine or not I can't wait to see what all you create for your touchdown!

Two great "events" I'd like to invite everyone to.

I can not believe we are already into February. It seems the older I get, the quicker time passes by. Is there a slow motion button somewhere I can push to make time slow down?

Anyway, on to the two great events I'd like to invite everyone to. The first is a blog hop that I will be participating in for Scrap Friendzy. It's this coming weekend and starts Friday night at 6:00 pm.

It's going to be a lot of fun so make sure you come play!

The second event is a non elimination contest we have this month at Cookin' Up Creations. It's called Crop Chef and it's going to be a blast. Each week you will be given two challenges (on Monday and Thursday) requiring you to use a certain "recipe".

I hope to see everyone participating in both of these fun-filled events.

Tim Holtz "12 Tags of Christmas" Day 1...

Okay, if you are a fan of the great Tim Holtz, then you know that for the past 4 years he has done the 12 tags of Christmas starting on December 1st. Well Tim did not let us done because he has decided to do it again for the fifth year ...YEA!

Anyway, I decided to give a shot at the tags even though I never have what he uses on his. So I thought I could just wing it. And wing it I did. Her is my very first Tim Inspired tag...

So, I know Mr. Holtz does not have to worry about me over taking him in the creative talent area any time soon, but I am pretty proud of myself for trying. In fact, I am in the process of completing the day two tag...WAHOO!

Now, on to my projects created especially for the Bunny Hop. On this card my main "ingredient" was using mist. It's a new thing to me because I sometimes let things intimidate me. Especially when you really don't have a lot of control on what it is going to end up looking like. And for a clean line scrapper like me, that can be just plain stressful at time. But because I misted my base piece and layered all the other pieces on top, it wasn't so bad :o)

And on this layout, my main "ingredient" was inking. I used a bright yellow ink pad to ink all my edges. It sure does make me think of all those buttercups I have been seeing around here lately.

Bugaboo Stamp card...post #2

If you read my previous post, you'll see why this card is being posting in a new post instead of in the same one as my other card.

This card is created using the instructions at Split Coast Stampers and is an easel card.

I used American Crafts paper, DCWV Cardstock, Colorbok ink and Paper Studios Gemstones. I used my Bic Mark Its to color the image and my Dymo Labeler for the sentiment.

Over on the Bugaboo Stamps challenge blog, Catch the Bug , this weeks challenge is to make a card with a different type of fold. So I created two cards specifically for this challenge. However I can never get the linky thing to let me add two different links using the same blog post and therefore there will be two posts back to back with cards in them so I can enter them both. This first one is using the instructions form Split Coast Stampers for this Spring card. I loved making this card and I am sure it will brighten someone's day who isn't feeling well.

I used Jillibean Soup paper, DCWV cardstock, Ribbon Boutique Ribbon, Staz-on Ink, And The Paper Studio Gemstones. I did the sentiment using my Dymo labeler. I used Bic Mark Its to color the image.

Just thought I would pop in a share some "TWEET" boxes I made for mine and DH's Sunday school class. I plan to put some Valentine's Cookies in there for the kids.

Just thought I would share with anyone who might actually read this. We are closing on our new house today...WOOHOO! As a matter of fact in 2 1/2 hours we should be getting ready to sign those papers. And I can not wait. Its much more room (almost twice what we have now) and I get my own scrap room. Can not get any better than that.
Once we take possession I will take some pictures and post them. I took some on my cell phone last night when we did our final walk-through but they are so blurry. So I will take some better ones before we move everything in.

It's been a busy week...

Blake finally went back to school after missing all last week. And Of course classes started up for me again also. Even though I am only taking a couple classes, they seem to be work heavy. So they are keeping me super busy already. I have a fear I will forget to submit one of my assignments. There is just so much to keep organized.

On the house front, we are going to schedule a second walk through on the house we are looking at. We are leaving it in god's hands whether we get it or not. But I have been praying hard and have this incredible peace about this house. Dh on the other hand wants a sign. So I said I was gonna to photo shop a billboard into the photo of the house that is on the internet. That would be so funny.

I am hoping to get some scrapping in this weekend. There is an Extreme Crop at www.lifetimemoments.com this weekend to help those that are doing scrapfest get their points. I feel like I haven't been in the creative mind lately so hopefully this will help get my mojo back in full swing.

thats about it for an update. I hope life slows down a bit so I can keep my "resolution" and blog more.

It's 2009 and I am not off to a great start.

One of my goals for this year is to be a better blogger and already I am failing miserably! I said I would be better and blog at least once a week so I can say I am doing that since I did technically blog once this first week, but hopefully it will become more of a habit to come blog at least every few days. Now on with whats going on...

I am watching The Bachelor right now. I am so looking forward to watching this season because Jason is the bachelor. I just absolutely want him to fall in love and find the perfect match for him and Ty.

School started back for the kids today and DH went back to work today. After a couple weeks all together as a family, I think we all need a break...LOL Of course Blake was still home because he is still on his meds from having his tonsils out, and will be home probably a couple more days. But he is healing nicely and I think next week he will be back to his normal self. Or at least I hope so ;o)

Thats about it for an update. I hope to get some new LOs uploaded here on my blog in the next couple days, so check back soon for those.

I am such a bad bad blogger. I admit it. I was always a terrible diary keeper as well. So sorry about that. Not that I have any readers left. But just in case a few of you still peek occasionally to see if I just happened to update, I sincerely apologize.

So, what has been happening here in my little world? We have just gotten over the stomach virus in my house. Bleck! It all started with Becca, then hit Blake hard. It finally ended with Zach and me both getting sick the same day. Thankfully Lin took off work to take care of things the day I was sick. That helped a lot.

For those who are wanting to see Disney pictures, I will make a post on our trip soon. And yes, I do mean that. I will add a some of our favorite pictures.

As far as school goes, I will be taking one final this week and then my last final next week. Then I have no more school until January and so I will have a break and can focus on Christmas around here. I am so ready for a break from school. But next semester I am only taking two classes so it won't be quite as stressful.

Oh, and it actually snowed some today! It was just flurries and sleet but the kids were excited. It just made the roads wet but did accumulate on the cars so they did get to actually throw a few snowballs this morning. It was perfect for snowball making!

Well that's a quick update but I wanted to get something on here since it had been so long since I updated. I promise I will be back with more soon.

More layouts and cards and update on kids

So here are the three cards and five of the layouts I have gotten done in the past week. I figured with Blake entering second grade (tomorrow is the first day) then I should probably get the first day of first grade scrapped...LOL

And on that note, I can not believe the kids go back to school tomorrow. Zach is in 7th grade this year. I am having a hard time with this. I guess its just seems that he has grown up way too fast. Becca is in 5th grade. She got the same teacher Zach had. I really like this teacher so I'm happy with it. Blake is in 2nd and has the same teacher Becca had. I'm sure he will end up loving her as much as Becca did.

And Becca had her third and final (I hope) hearing test done today. She unfortunately does have minor hearing loss in both ears, but more so in the left year. But even though she would benefit from hearing aides, her doctor is afraid having hearing aids in her ears will cause her psoriasis in her ears to flair up worse. So she will get preferential seating in classes and we will see if that helps any.

Well thats it for now... it's starting to storm so I am going to have to shut the computer down for a little while.

Where has the summer gone?

Can you believe the kiddos head back to school on Friday. It seems this summer break has flown by. Normally I am ready for school to start back, but this year I am just not ready. I feel like the kids haven't had enough of a break and I just am not ready to get back into the routine of getting up early. Although it will be nice to have the days quiet around the house again. And I don't start fall classes until August 18th so I will have a week of alone time before I spend my days doing school work. That will be nice.

That's about it for now. I have to take some photos of my new LOs and will post them when I get them taken and uploaded.

Reagan Faith is home!!!

If you have followed the link on my sidebar to Reagan's blog, you know she has has a long road in hostipals since late April. Well praise God, yesterday she got to come home. I just could not stop crying. I was so happy. There was a Welcome Home Reagan party at her house and so the kids and I were able to be there when the ambulance arrived to drop her off. I know mommy, daddy, and big brother Brennen is happy to have them all together again. I do ask that you remain in prayer for the family as they still have a long road ahead of them. I will post pictures after I et them off my cell phone (can you believe I forgot my real camera!)

I had the opportunity to attend the sold out Deeper Still Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend. It was AWESOME!!! The Holy Spirit was definitely present. Check out the Deeper Still Blog. You can scroll down to the bottom to the entry Friday night in photos...the arena was packed! Can you imagine what 19,000 ladies praise The Lord does to satan...LOL I get chills just thinking about it.
The ladies who spoke were wonderful! Priscilla Shirer was hilarious. She is a down to earth mom (expecting her third) with a pasiion for Christ. And I have always wanted to hear and see Beth Moore speak. And I am looking forward to doing her newest Bible study in Esther when it is released. Now I have to admit, the other speaker, Kay Arthur, I didn't know a lot about. I knew she was suppose to be a powerful speaker, but I had no idea just how powerful she is! WOWSERS! That lady has a powerful conviction for the Lord. She was amazing. God definitely has brought these women together for a reason and I can't wait to see His work done through them. I know they lit a fire under me to get more excited and step out of my comfort zone and to stop sitting around waiting for someone else to spread The Word of God!!!
Travis and the praise was amazing and truly project the love they feel for Christ. Our special musical guest was Mandisa. Boy she can sing! If you don't know who Mandisa is, she was a finalist on the 5th season of American Idol. She was such a blessing to hear and I was moved by her love for Christ.

If you ever get to go to a conference with these three ladies (as a group or individually) you should! You will be blessed and your life will be changed!

Ugh! I was just typing about the Deeper Still Conference I went to this weekend. I was typing about how awesome it was to be there with 19,000 women praising Jesus. I had links and everything in my post when all the sudden the screen goes blank and my computer logs off the internet, causing me to lose everything I had typed. But thats okay because now I get to get doubly excited while I type it all again! So I will be right back to post about it all. Take that satan!

Where has the last 7 years gone? On Thursday Blake turned 7. I can't believe my "baby" isn't such a baby anymore. Here is a photo I took of him. I don't know which is hitting me harder, Blake turning 7 or the fact that Zach will be a teen in October.

Okay, so its been a LONG time since I posted. I never was good at keeping a diary either. Betcha couldn't tell that huh!

But I am going to try my very hardest to keep this thing up to date from now on. But I guess we will all see if I actually do... only time will tell.

For now here are a couple new scrapbook pages. I am really pleased with the way these turned out. The first one I did as a challenge on www.lifetimemoments.com. It was actually a class from NSD to "Junk -It-Up" and every time I started this I would freeze up. I wanted to do this so bad, but it intimidated me. Finally 2 1/2 months after the class I actually did it. And I LOVE the results. Anyways, here is that LO:

The other one is a LO I did today for a contest at http://www.scrapattackscrapbooking.com/. The LO had to be about birthday celebrations. So lucky for me, Blake just had a birthday in June so I used a couple pictures of him getting ready to blaow out his candles. Heres that LO:

I can not believe that another year has come and gone. I know, everyone says that, but I seriously didn't get half the things I wanted to accomplished last year. But I guess there is always this year right?

While I'm not one to make resolutions, I have set some goals for myself.
One of them is to try new things. I'm not a very adventurous person so we will see how this goes.
Another is to be true to myself. No more getting caught up in fads just because its the in thing. Not that I did that much anyway. But I am doing what I'm comfortable with and not worrying if its the "in style" thing to do.

I hope you all have a very blessed 2007.

So I have received a few emails lately asking for an update. I am such a bad blogger. This is why I was so late getting on board with a blog of my own. But I promise to do better. Really I do!

So a little update. Dh is in school and doing great so far! I'm very proud of him. He goes to school a couple days a week and takes one class over the internet. Plus he is working at that same college. Now we just have to get used to the whole once a month pay ...LOL

Zach was elected 4-H vice president. He is very excited and looking forward to it. He was also elected Class Representative again this year for homecoming. He was surpised but excited about that too. He has a birthday next week and he can't wait to have friends over.

Becca is being Becca. I have really loved our time together the older she gets because we are having real conversations. She has had a birthday since I posted and she thinks she is so much more of a Diva now. Little does she know she is way to sweet to be a diva.

Blake is doing better about school. He used to cry and say he wasn't going back anymore. But we have worked on all the positive aspects of school and he has slowly warmed up to it. Sure, we still have our days when he wakes up crying because he doesn't wanna go, but Im sure before long he will be loving every single day. He has even been liking the mascot at the peprallies and he has always hated those type characters.

As far as I go, I am on a quest to get healthy. I have taken up walking and eating better. I go walking as soon as the kids get on the bus while its still a bit cool out. Before long Ill have to walk right before picking the kids up in the afternoons though.
I am starting to sub again at the preschool all my kids went to and I am waiting on my background check so I can sub at the school they are all at now. I'm hoping to stay busy enough with that, that I can help bring in a little extra cash around here. I have really stopped submitting my stuff for publication so I really need to get back into that and who kows...Maybe I will even go for Creating Keepsakes HOF 2007!

So there you have it. Two months of updates in one very long post!

Blake's first day of Kindergarten

So yesterday was my youngest child's first day of Kindergarten. Where has the time gone? While I'm happy and excited for him to start this new journey, I am also a bit sad when I think about how fast all my children have grown up. But I know that we all have to grow up and so I will not dwell on that. It just makes all the times we have together while they are still children even more precious.

I do have to share this though... Tuesday night Blake was saying his night night prayer and part of it was this "...Jesus, please let me have the super greatest day of my life for Kindergraten tomorrow, and please let the time pass by really fast so mommy won't be bored or sad without me here with her..." Isn't that just the sweetest! At the end of the day he said he had a great day. When I asked him his favorite parts his reply was "I got to paint and I saw my brother at snack time." I'm sure catching a glimpse of Zach during snack made it easier on him and reassured him Zach and Becca were in fact at the school too.

Wow, this summer has seemed to fly by. Maybe its because we have been so busy with things we haven't had a lot of down time. Tuesday My two oldest start back to schhol. On Wednesday my youngest will have his first day of Kindergarten. Its going to be so strange having all the kids in school full time. I will probably go crazy the first week trying to adjust. I think the summer break for kids just get shorter and shorter. But thankfully they do get plenty of break throughout the school year so maybe they won't get too burned out. I guess the hardest part is always getting back into the schhol year routine. going to bed at the "school year bedtime" and getting up early. Its just hard once you get into the lazy summer mode. But thankfully my kids have always seemd to adjust and get back into their routine rather quickly. Let's just hope it happens like that this year since I will have three kids getting up and getting ready for school.

Changed my template

Changed my template from the dark background to the light one because I kept forgetting to make my font color something that would show up on the dark background...LOL So now its the light background and I can stick with plain le black type. Im sure as I pop on throughout the day I will play around a bit more and figure some other things out...so just ignore all the test posts that are about to come.

Well I did it. I created a blog. I really don't expect for it to be read by many people, but at least I will have a place to showcase some of my scrapbooking layouts and other creations. And also a place to share all the wonderful blessings God has graced me and my family with.
